The House-Museum

The House-Museum of the People's Artists of Armenia Ara Sargsyan and Hakob Kojoyan, founded in 1973, is a branch of the State Gallery of Armenia.

The museum preserves and presents the creative legacies of two of Armenia’s most distinguished artists — the sculptor Ara Sargsyan and the painter Hakob Kojoyan — who played pivotal roles in shaping the artistic and cultural identity of 20th-century Armenia.

The exhibition halls and memorial collections of the museum reveal the evolution of both masters’ creative visions. Sargsyan’s section features photographs, sketches, and reproductions of his monumental sculptures, bas-reliefs, and portrait works — created both in Armenia and abroad — showcasing his extraordinary range across all genres of sculpture. Kojoyan’s section displays his paintings, graphic works, and stage designs, illustrating his profound sense of color, form, and national symbolism that defined Armenian modern art.

Together, the two artists’ works are displayed in a chronological sequence, beginning with their early studies and artistic experiments in Constantinople, Vienna, and Moscow, and continuing through their mature years in Soviet Armenia. The House-Museum not only preserves their artistic heritage but also serves as a living testament to their shared contribution to Armenian national culture and art education.
